and thanks for your advice, RF, on changing speeds. That wouldn't have occured to lil' old me (smile). Of course, the stereo doesn't actually have a record player, so I'll need to search for the speed control.

I have managed to copy mp3s from the computer with no problems, so I'm pretty sure the mp3 player is ok (fairly certain they're both set to 33).

I didn't have time to try another cd, so maybe that's the problem. Has anyone else had this happen when ripping (is that the right word) from a stereo?
