04/12/07: Vonnegut had quite the sense of humor

Posted by: Coaster

"Vonnegut played himself in a cameo in 1986's Back To School, in which he is hired by Rodney Dangerfield's Thornton Melon to write a paper on the topic of the novels of Kurt Vonnegut. Recognizing the work as not Melon's own, Professor Turner tells him, 'Whoever did write this doesn't know the first thing about Kurt Vonnegut.'" --Wikipedia

.

"I am an atheist (or at best a Unitarian who winds up in churches quite a lot)." --Kurt Vonnegut in Fates Worse Than Death: An Autobiographical Collage of the 1980s (1991)

.

"Kurt Vonnegut is not an atheist." --Conservapedia

.

I wonder if Mr. Vonnegut would have found this last entry by Conservapedia, a tool for those unfortunates who having trouble accepting reality, troubling or just merely amusing. Kurt Vonnegut embraced reality and brought it home richly illustrated for so many of us. You will be missed, Mr. Vonnegut.
