You are indeed correct. Except for that you're totally wrong. The death penalty isn't barbaric at all. If anything it's merciful. Anybody that has watched an entire season of Oz should know that. In fact, anybody that hasn't been living an umbrella of sugercane and lollipops should know that prison is worse then death. So why then is it not an act of kindess to strap them to a chair and run enough electricity through them to make hoover damn look like a 9-volt battery? Truth be told, you are a retard. And the reason the death penalty doesn't work isn't because people don't care about dying its that people aren't scared shitless by HOW they're going to die. For some reason the Government has this thing about cruel and unusual punishments. The only kinds of punishments that would be an effective deturant ARE cruel and unusual. We should keep the death penalty but do it right. None of this pussy lethal injection or gas chamber bullshit. We need to bring back public hangings and leave the body out for a few days so the vultures can get a meal. Have that on the front page of some major metropolitan newspapers and Mr. Murderhappy might think twice about pumping two rounds into his neighbor for not giving him back his buzzsaw. Don't get all riteous about right-to-life for prisoners that commit first-degree murder. They're animals and just be treated as such.
