...people hail Lynch as a genius, but the thing is, when you make a movie and remove the part of the film that provides closure for the viewer. It makes the viewer confused and so they struggle to figure it out, and usually they don't, but with help from the internet i.e. imdb, they might come close. They get to this point and say, whew! This guy is a fucking genious. Had he provided those last 20 minutes of closure he wouldn't be such a fucking genious now would he.
Okay, that was my Crankyesque statement.
Truth be told the guy is pretty creative and comes up with some pretty good scenes that take to themes juxtaposed to create odd emotions, aka surrealism. Also a lot of good camera shots.
