03/30/03: People still have a right to their opinions...

...even if we don't agree with them, Hate Guy. I frankly think that celebrities (artists, musicians, actors) in BOTH the conservative and liberal camps are acting like their usual self-important, self-promoting selves, but at least they're using their brains and challenging popular opinion rather than towing the party line and acting like sheep.

IMO Michael Moore is a self-righteous, pompous asshole, but at least he HAS an opinion. Much more than I can say about these redneck Republican country music stars who automatically condemn people who diss the President. Dissing the President's our right; that's what makes us Americans is to disagree with our leaders. I do support the troops--God be with them for the enormous responsibility that has been placed on their shoulders-- but neither do I think that Bush has been the most savory of diplomats or decision-makers, and maybe he's due a little criticism.

You are totally right that the decision's been made to go to war and we're stuck with it, and protesting and civil disobedience is realistically not going to change anyone's minds at the top. But people do have that right, and it would be foolhardy and narrowminded for us as Americans not to listen to them.
