2 words: SWORD FIGHTS!!!! If you can imagine what the movie EXCALIBUR would have been like with out armor, swords, magic , or incest- then you MIGHT come close to what it was like to sit through this movie. Dumas wrote PULP novels (or whould have if they had such things in his day) they were about great heroes, Tyrants and BAD men, Love and Lust, etc etc etc...but this movie gives us none of that-- instead we get a trite little monologue about the relationship between father and son, a limp and inacurate frence history leason, and big gloppity-gloops of Leo C cooing, preening, and puckering for the camera. To paraphrase a line from the movie: "The next time there are screenwriters reading a Dumas book-shoot them."
