I agree. This was not a bad movie. During the first scene when Gerard Depardieu lets out a nice loud and supposedly funny fart, I was sure the film was doomed. However even though it failed to realistically convey the events of the time, it had an interesting idea. Leo DiCaprio put on another mediocre performance (he has yet to do anything better than "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?") but luckily Jeremy Irons, Gabriel Byrne and John Malkovich saved his sorry ass. What really pisses me off about this guy is this: he was terrific as Gilbert Grape's mentally retarded brother, but now that's he's a heartthrob for girls who can't think for themselves, his acting has been pure shit. I can't understand how people are actually UPSET that he wasn't nominated for best actor in "Titanic." Why should he? HE doesn't deserve it!
