I hated watching this american crap made out of an episode of french history. This was just another strip-down, moronized, eunuch version of an otherwise not too sophisticated but interesting story. Double DeCaprio Impact...he was not that bad, i mean if youre an ok actor it somehow shines thrugh, at least you can play the role. as for the rest of the guys its like shooting on mosquitos with a rapid fire subatomic particle blaster...these guys did it for the money or just wanted to parade around in them nice clothes. oh and a question: i like John Malkovich, he's an EXCELLENT actor (we're not worthy, we're not worthy...) but dont you think that he looks outright funny in this role?...i mean with the strange teeth and that cross-eyed visage. this film was not funny enough and there was not enough action, and - since americans tend to think of corny and meaningful as interchangeable terms - it had too much wanking about the characters' heart's desire, love, country, your king and duty and betrayal and stuff like that which made it sooooo unbearable...i remember the audience in the movie theater was laughing at some of the pathetic scenes and at the end there was applause...unforunately of the sarcastic type hmmm...whats positive about the movie....nothing comes to mind...oh, THANK GOD i saw i for free.
