Like just about everybody, I love this movie, but like Mr. Cranky, I had noticed many idiosincracies in the plot. I think alot of us do, because we've all watched it so much that we see them more. If often annoyed me that they thought the worst thing that could happen to Mary is to be an "old maid." She did have a good job, but they seem to want to make us forget, Sam Wainwright liked her, and Donna Reed is so pretty, I thin k she still would have gotten married. Other questions, why did "Martini's" become "Nick's." I dont recall the Baileys lending money for a business, jsut his house. Why is Nick so mean when it's just his place. He was pretty nice before. I also agree with Cranky that "Pottersville" was so terrible. Although it was sleazy, I feel George arriving to a darkened police state with cars and police dogs would have been much scarier. Shows kind of a puritanical streak for Capra. Well, I could go on, but I'd rather hear other's input.
