You may ask, what does that have to do with my post? Why have you just CFLed my thread in such a weird way, even for you?
I just learned that Radiohead's lead guitarist Jonny Greenwood (the guy who did that THING in the "Creep" video -- you know what I'm talking about) composed the score for "There Will Be Blood." And Radiohead is my favorite band from the 90s still regularly active. This is only the second score he has ever composed, though, and you don't really hear it at all in any of the trailers. I might just have to make it until that movie's regular promotional screening in this market (which I recently learned is only Tuesday -- you just need to hold out that much longer, baby! And I mean "baby" pretty literally there).
Oh, I learned this because I just saw a listing of the Critics' Choice Awards winners and his score was one of them. (I was supposed to vote for the Critics' Choice Awards this year because I was a broadcast film critic, but alas.)
Surely, Radiohead is an acquired taste, but what I've heard of "Rainbows" doesn't impress me that much, either. There were a couple of good songs like "Creep" and "Just" on their first couple of albums but the run from the mid- 90s through the early 2000s produced a phenomenal amount of amazing psychedelic work.
