Linda Ronstadt albums were sought by teenage males in the '70s with great anticipation. Sometimes you bought the record for the music or so your girlfriend could listen to it, but regardless of its content, you kept it for the album cover.
You also displayed them prominently, with no shame, right next to your Led Zeppelin, Who, and Black Sabbath records. Your male teenage friends understood and made no judgements.
If your Mom was the type who wandered into your room often, you kept those records at the back of your collection, along with Carly Simon's "No Secrets."
BTW, those pictures did not really do Linda Ronstadt justice. If you're really interested in seeing what all the fuss was about and you don't have easy access to the album covers, do yourself a favor and rent "The Pirates of Penzance," starring Linda Ronstadt, Kevin Kline, Rex Smith, and Angela Lansbury. If you can get past Rex Smith, the choreography and art direction is visually stunning and the music is fabulous. But it's still a guilty pleasure.
