12/23/01: Romance this

Posted By: Karen_G

1) Were guys more romantic in times past? And were women more ready, willing, and able in the past as well?

I'm with Throwing Muses on this one. I think the only reason some people think men were more romantic in the past is because we weren't there to see how it actually was. Chivalry seems romantic. It seems more romantic for a man to have to court a woman rather than just picking her up in a bar. But then you have to consider the class systems. I bet in the lower classes, a lot of the men and women in times past did just pick each other up in their equivalent of a bar. The fancy courting stuff was just for the rich folk.

2) Can you name all the films you've seen or heard of that feature a time-travel romance? If you can list more than one please go now and look for a cop on horseback somewhere and lie down under the horse's ass with your mouth open.

Well, I've heard of that movie Time after Time that Mia loves, but I can't think of any I've actually seen.

3) Ever been in love and thought it was just like the movies or is your idea of love being with someone that bathes and can rock your sexual world?

I've been in love, and it's never like the movies. That's one reason I don't care for love stories in movies, they're so unrealistically simplistic.

4) So are you a closet Meg Ryan fan or a blatant one or do you despise her as a chick that plays the same characters in too many movies? Feel free to name your favorite Meg Ryan roles and/or list off the films she shouldn't have touched even if promised the opportunity to do a blowjob on an Aussie actor.

I used to think she was nice and cute, partly because she was playing nice and cute roles, basically the same woman, different name, in every film. I guess she was best in When Harry Met Sally, then it was all a repeat.

But then this whole Russell Crowe bad boy mess started, and the indiscretion with which it was handled, how blatant it all was, seemed like the actions of a totally selfish woman. Not that I think Dennis Quaid is such a prince, but if she was dissatisfied with her marriage, this was a poor way to take care of it. You know?

5) So am I the only one that believes that Hugh Jackman's best performance remains his portrayal of Wolverine in the Xmen?

I'm afraid I haven't seen him in anything yet, to my knowledge.
