i agree that this is one of the more underrated movies of the 90's. i'm very picky with movies, especially those that verge on speaking for "the kids," but i fucking love this movie. and it's not for a specific generation, it's for any human being who's ever felt stuck, stagnant in a shitty environment. with fear of leaving, of course. the reaction after the "make god laugh" joke is beautiful. wonderfully written, acted and directed. if woody allen (who I love)had done this, it would have been wildly heralded.
I am very much looking forward to his next film. Hopefully it won't get ignored by critics who show their worth by lumping films into gen-x movies if the cast is young. this is not empire records-thank fucking christ.
