06/13/97: what to agree with

it is definitely more like a whit stillman. the ensemble cast of some pretty cool actors means there was something worth taking a look at--there had to be a reason stoltz produced.

any one of us has a comparitive moment to those we watched in that movie--and i have to admit that what i didn't always care for was maybe something pathetically similar to an event in my life. immature and stupid? maybe the problem is we recognised our own boring moments and trivial antics.

yeah, it dragged. doesn't life? but the story between the main guy (grover) and his girlfriend was intriguing enough to have been its own movie. it shows promise...more engaging at times than any kevin smith movie. (those drone on and on--don't know when to stop a joke.)

believe it or not, the title was so misplaced that i actually rented it without remembering that i had already seen it during its theatrical release. and still, i sat through it again.
