07/25/01: Kids kicks ass!

This movie is an interesting blend of pure truth and raw comedy. It is as real as you can get with a camera observing crazy and currupted youth; which in my mind is absolutely halarious. Sure the opening scene starts with a very long, passionate kiss between what seems to be babys with that ending in rough, hard core sex; but that isnt what this moviem is really about. It is simply inviting you inside the lives of todays adolescence, opening the door into their sex driven minds. Things dont change that much over time, especially with teenagers, but if you grew up in say the 60s, this movie may come as quite a shock. I am a sixteen year old virgin, by choice. I dont preech the "stay pure till marriage" thing, but i do believe that for me the best thing is to wait for now. Though, I am not inoscent by any standards. I am quite the party girl, so this movie relates to me and my friends very much. One thing I do not relate to very much in this film, is the lack of things thatthese kids had that have been sort of handed to me all throughout my life. I dont live in the ghetto at all, but you would be surprised, in a high class neighborhood the same thing happens. This group of kids dont have much. At one point in this film, you get to meet Tellys mother. She is a low-class stay home mother who dosnt seem to care about pulling her oversized collared shirt off to breast feed her baby right in front of casper and telly. It also dosnt seem to bother her too much when telly dosnt come home until 430 in the morning. This just goes to show how these kids grew up. Loving parents are not around, the guidence they need is absent, a safe warm home with a family that looks out for you is just not there for them. Maybe that is why they act this way.... and they are all destined for failure in the future. Throughout this whole film you watch these kids frollock around the city getting into trouble. They see others doing bad so they join in for the fun of it, just to come off as bad ass in front of their drug buddies, for an example in the park beating up on a black man. This movie highlights many problems that I know teens face today. It may not be the most appropriate movie to watch with younger veiwers, but thats what the nc-17 rating is for. It is not a sick movie at all, like i said before it is as raw as you can get. It covers sex, disease, drugs, alcohol, stealing, and a whole lot about the way kids are everywhere. It dosnt matter where you live or how much money you make, the whole world is just a big ghetto, because there are dark corners everywhere, evil everywhere, and bad people everywhere. Its just that a lot of people havnt realized that. I would recomend this movie to everyone it is a learning experience.
