10/16/03: That's fairly accurate, except as I remember...

Graff had already had her moment in the sun and was on the decline while Seles was the up and coming star. The guy didn't really help Graff any by stabbing Seles, he was just insane. But that's neither here nor there.

The point that I was trying to make, obviously too obtusely, was that short of running down on the field and stabbing the players tennis fans do not have the ability to interfere with sports games in the same way that baseball fans do and as such you were setting up a straw man argument.

I mean it's like saying that basketball fans are well behaved because they don't interfere with the play. In fact, I would go so far as to say that baseball fans have the MOST ability to interfere with the game because in ALL other sports that I can think of the field is clearly demarcated. If a football player were to catch a ball out of bounds it wouldn't matter a damn because it would still be out of bounds, same with basketball and same with tennis (who the hell would go after an out of bounds ball).

However, with baseball and its stupid rules, foul balls can still count as outs if caught so the playing field becomes much more ambiguous. All of this is pretty much a long- winded way of saying that its unfair to the fans of baseball to call them stupid, especially the stupidest in sports, when often times their roles are the most ambiguous on certain plays.
