... it is only fair to point out that in many countries it is traditional for the fans to try to influence the outcome. Some jerks have been known to throw things on the court. Some will try to make a loud noise as a player is in the middle of his service motion. I even read one story about how Stan Smith was playing Davis cup decades ago and some of the fans would make sure he could see the knives they were carrying.
The one Davis cup match I saw in Cincinnati did have some very well behaved fans. The USA was playing Argentina and there were no attempts to mess with either team. Well actually the fans from Argentina were only about 50 very enthusiastic and loud (between points)people. If they had tried anything they would have been in big trouble and they knew it.
