Very embarrassing. I completely forgot to turn my cell phone off in the movie theater and it rang (LOUDLY) during the scene where Kevin Bacon is explaining to Sean Penn that the mute boy, Ray Harris Jr. and his friend killed his daughter. Because I was busy trying to muffle my phone (I couldn't find it in the dark in my purse, so I threw my coat over my purse and shoved it all under my seat until the ringing stop, apologizing profusely to the people sitting nearby..)
ANYWAY, did I miss something with regard to why the boys killed Penn's daughter? I heard the part about them playing with the gun and it going off accidentally as Katie pulled up?? (I think I heard it like that) I didn't quite understand why Katie's body ended up in that pit area with her head bashe in. I know when Sean Penn asks how her head had a huge split in it, Kevin Bacon mentions that one of the boys had a hockey stick.
So, I'm unclear on a few points.
1. Did Penn's daughter run up on the curb with her car purposely or after she had been shot?
2. Did she run from her car?
3. If the shooting was an accident, why did the boys bash her head open?
4. Was Penn's daughter's shooting retaliation for Penn killing "Just Ray" Harris Sr., or just meant to show how life can come full circle in horrible ways?
