10/16/03: Less than 1/10th of an acre, Slothrop?

Really? Or was that a typo? That definitely would be a drawback to running space for any kind of dog.

We live on a half-acre lot and the entire back-yard is fenced in, mostly due to having a pool. The .25 acre in the back is fine by her. She actually likes to meander, not run as much, although she ran more when she was younger. That's one downside to a big dog, that they're prone to displasia of the hip and get arthritic easily as they get older. We take Cujo for long walks in the morning and at night, which she loves and it helps to keep her arthritis in check.

On a sidenote, I've been told by people that because I'm so used to having a St. Bernard and so unafraid of her, that I've lost sight as to how easily she could frighten someone just be her size and presence. My brother in law is terrified of her, based on some story he heard that St. Bernards are capable of "snapping" at any time. Kind of like skilly's "cat-eating" story, I'm not sure if this has ever really happened with the St. Bernard breed or it's just an urban legend. I'm sure there are all sorts of St. Bernard websites to check.

Good luck, whatever type of doggie you get.
