I absolutely love that flick. Brilliant satire that didn't just skewer deterrence theory, but the entire cold war mindset (most notably in General Ripper's 'bodily fluids' speech and the stark image of Slim Picken's riding that bomb; cowboying his way to oblivion) Plus, Sellers managed to create three fully-developed and hilarious characters.
The Killing is definitly on the high end of the 50s heist flick continum. I'd even place it above John Huston's "Asphalt Jungle" Personally, I love the ending; all that money spilling onto the tarmac, Johnny watching the cops creep up and that great tag line "What's the difference."
