03/27/1999: Fave musicals...

Posted By: Parca_Mortem

Well, if you have ever read any of my posts and still remember them, you have probably noticed that I constantly attack musicals. But let's be fair; I'll put up musicals I've enjoyed:

-"Singin' In the Rain": Other than a few musical and pseudo-romantic scenes required by Hollywood, this is a constantly hilarious flick. "This is a talking picture..."

-"Hair": Milos Forman adds a hilariously perverted genious touch to this hippie musical.

-"Cannibal! The Musical": From Trey Parker and Matt Stone, at their best, and before "South Park" became a series. Basically a parody of the genres of gore-horror, musicals, westerns, and other things.

-"Robin Hood: Men in Tights": Among all of the spoofs involved, there are great satires of musical numbers.

-"Fantasia": Disney's best product. Sure it's overrated, and too bad they are making a sequel right now, but it has several nice interpretations of classical music.

-"History of the World, Part I": Another Mel Brooks satire with good spoofs on musicals. "The Inquisition, what a show!"...

-"Beauty and the Beast": I don't care for any of the musical numbers, and this is overrated as well, but it is the only good product Disney barfed up in the 90s. Nice story...

... and a few others that I can't remember at the time. That is not to say that I think all musicals suck; there are a few so-so ones at well. But the majority suck...
