In the opening scene of WATERWORLD, I'm told, Kevin Costner filters his urine to produce drinking water. Two questions:
1. If this guy is so evolved that he's sprouted gills, why hasn't he developed a tolerance for salt water, which would seem to be a much shorter evolutionary step?
2. Why doesn't he just filter sea water?
