Several other companies, including Fox and Warner Bros., approached Studio Ghibli with offers to distribute Miyazaki's films. Only Disney agreed to the "no-cut" clause. Forget about Disney screwing up those films, what do you think Warner Bros. (home of "Batman and Robin") would have done?
I think Miramax is keeping a tight lid on any information about Mononoke Hime. SOP for a Disney possession.
