Disney, as a maker of animated films, does have one thing going for it. Having entrenched itself so deeply in American culture, it has swallowed up rivers of money that flow through that corrupt cesspool of diseased fat that half the world has been brainswashed into thinking is the greatest nation on Earth. This land in which we live has spread it's virulent "culture" throughout the world, destroying whatever was already there to begin with, and Disney has been doing it's dirty work for a long, long time. To say that any other studio that decides to produce an animated feature and, god forbid, break Disney's monopoly on North America's taste in cartoons is in fact plagiarizing Uncle Walt's conglomerate shows just how much horrific control this disgusting blob has over the feebleminded! While my disgust for North American animation in general remains fixed, I am at least glad that we have an option when we go to the theaters!
Now, Fox's "Anastasia" was disastrous. This film was an unnecessary remake of a movie that was already a classic of sorts (although Cranky's point about inherently racist aspects is well taken). But I would direct our friend Parca to "The Prince of Egypt", which, in my opinion, features the most spectacular animation ever produced in North America and was produced by Dreamworks SKG. And it was based on a biblical story, not a classic novel that was butchered to make it acceptable for children! Guess what; the priest hangs the gypsy and the Hunchback jumps off of Notre Dame! Splat! God, that still makes me mad! And that crap that they called "Hercules" and tried to shove into our brains! The godawful TV shows were truer to the original story! Disney is the biggest ripper offer of all time! The only thing their movies have going for them is that they have such bloated budgets that they can afford to hire the most neurotic, work obsessed psychopathic lowlifes in large enough quantities to put hundreds of moving images on the screen. But their comic relief? Story? The fact that they even butcher their own work with dumbass TV series? Fuck Disney!
You know what's really a sad statement? In my opinion, the quality of the animation in the movie "Heavy Metal" beats Disney's best work hands down. I could have sworn I was looking at a real person on screen there... if not for the bright colours and obvious lines. And there is some other North American cult fare that's a hundred times better than THAT!
And don't even get me started on Anime! The best animation I have ever seen was in "Akira"... well, okay that's a lie, it was in "Ghost in the Shell", but I know that "Akira" was, proportionately, better, because they didn't have access to all fancy-dancy Digital Image processing shit, so they did almost all of it the old fashioned way. And that was good. "Ninja Scroll", "Wings of Honnemaise", and although I haven't seen it, "Princess Mononoke" annihilate Disney. (Speaking of which, when is Princess Mononoke coming out, and in what cities!? I heard it's been moved from July to October now! If anyone knows when and where, could they please post it here!)
There is no limit to what animation can create, save one's imagination and skill at drawing, or sculpting, or moving sand around on a piece of cardboard, or computer programming. If anything, Disney has destroyed America's openness to this potential, by reserving animation for stupid kid's stories and ignoring all the dramatic possibilites. DAMN YOU, DISNEY!!! Disney sucks, and when America is destroyed in flamin apocalypse, I shall see to it that Disneyland, and Disneyworld, and everything Disney, is reduced to rubble!!!
