Well, I have disagreed with libertarians on a number of issues.
I'm against privatizing government owned roads.
I'm against privatizing government owned water and sewage systems.
I'm against total elimination of taxes. I believe we need some taxes to pay for police, courts, military, etc.
I think the existence of the EPA is OK for certain types of things, because pollution is a violaiton of property rights.
I don't mind the existence of public schools that actually do a good job, such as the small one room public schools of the past. If we fired 90% of the public school bureacrats, and let parents choose which public schools their children attended, and completely eliminated the Department of Education and all federal funding of education, I think the public schools would be pretty good. And if the public schools did their jobs well, I wouldn't try to eliminate them.
I'm happy with the quality of the government first class mail delivery.
I support government building codes to the degree that they protect people from dangerous buldings, which is a form of fraud. The government should protect people from fraud.
I think that governemnt owned parks are OK, as long as the parks exist for the enjoyment of human beings. But local parks shold be funded through local taxes.
I like the idea of local government operating and funding the construction of local roads and other basic infrastructure. But, I oppose federal funding of local projects. For example, why should people in CA have to subsidize Boston's "Big Dig" project?
I don't object to the existence of the CDC, because I don't think the private sector can effectively, by itself, deal with rapid outbreaks of major contagious illnesses that are a serious threat and spread quickly.
So, I do adisagree with libertarians on those things.
Richard, on the other hand, was never critical of any government regulation of economic activity.
