The man was a pig.
He just wanted to realize his dreams, it didn't matter how. People weren't important to him unless they could get him access to research laboratoria and testing areas.
People were dying like rats in Peenemünde and Von Braun didn't care. Those who still could work were laboring like zombies till they died too.
But handsome young Dr. Werner von Braun had a dream: to go the Moon, to Mars!
Gerald Bull, British scientist and father of the Bull Supergun (ordered by Saddam but vital parts were intercepted by British intelligence) was just such a man: he was no evil man. He just wanted to pursue his dream.
Never mind the cost in human lives.
