Forecasters warn of flooding in Ark.
Sun Mar 23, 2:41 PM ET
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Engineers have used sand bags to plug two breaks in a levee on the Black River in Arkansas as the region battles flooding caused by heavy rain.
State emergency management officials say the levee breaks allowed river water to pour into outlying areas near the town of Pocahontas during the night.
High water caused by last week's torrential rainfall also is causing problems along the White River in eastern Arkansas. The National Weather Service has warned residents of a half-dozen counties along the river that they could face flooding.
Residents of wide areas of Missouri also have been battling major flooding.
