If they haven't hooked up yet, I doubt they will. When you get into the friend zone it's hard to get out of it, assuming you aren't exes already (which complicates things). In fact, she may not find him attractive or find his stories repulsive, or he may just need an ear to blab and she's happy to listen. Or, finally, he may be trying and she may be very nicely saying no to him, and he may not get it.
Regardless, if they haven't hooked up yet, that's a green light on your end. Ask her out for coffee or a movie.
