My personal faves are the villain who spends a good five minutes explaining his evil scheme to the hero, giving him ample time to figure out to escape, and the cop who gets killed on the day before he's supposed to retire, or get promoted, or have a baby, or win the lottery, or... you get the idea. They call it "irony".
