The twin thing as well as the rest of the entire movie was much better done in The Parent Trap remake. In the first Parent Trap, there were too many mean spirited people (twins, grandmother) and too many bad actors (Brian Keith couldn't act his way out of a cardboard casket). Both the East Coast and West Coast "twins" had a Boston accent, ferchrissakes. The second remake was just marvelous. The twins were very well done by Lindsey Lohan. She actually cultivated four accents: Good British, Bad British, Good Californian, Bad Californian. I'm sure twins have been done by actors for a very long time. I wonder if the first parent trap was the first movie to show both twins together facing the camera simultaneously. If there is another movie that beat The Parent Trap to it, I can't think of it.
True story: While at the food court in Tulsa's Woodland Hills Mall, two girs sitting above me were ragging on The Parent Trap remake. One girl remarked "The girls who played the twins didn't look very much like each other."
