01/26/02: "And nobody believes what that doofus says anyway"

Well, some refreshing candor from the corrupt Bush White House:

Mind the space. Last week, it was "We'll tell you what news is, and Enron isn't news." Now, the corrupt minions of this illegal regime are just coming out and saying that the media need to be controlled, to stay on the message they want to get out.

"We don't have the stage like we used to," one aide said. "Different stories are emerging, competing with us for news. It's a new environment."

Yeah, it's kind of tough to get everyone to focus on the baby playing with his own feces when an elephant walks into the room. Hell, even some of the vaporbrains in Crankyland have cottoned onto the Enron story and its connections with the crooks serving the Thief Executive.

But there is hope:

"Fleischer said Thursday the president will continue to make himself available for questions in the future. He did not indicate when, however."

I'd say the pResident will make himself available to answer questions whenever the Senate subpoena says he should be available. As I recall, every current member of the Supreme Court is on record as saying that furnishing testimony is no great burden on the occupant of the Oval Office, and since the President isn't above the law, he should be able to clear an hour or two out of his incredibly busy vacation schedule to get his pasty white ass down to the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue and answer a few questions. Shouldn't he?
