Scene 12 - A teeny bit later Sunday night
MEB knocks confidently on the manager’s office door.
“Enter, enter. I’m really busy here. Lots of movies to preview. Can’t stop for idle chitchat,” the manager hollers out to MEB.
“Right, I’ll keep this as brief as possible, but your assistance could save an innocent man from the gas chamber.”
“Oh, well that’s a good thing, I guess. Hi, I’m Bagwendel.”
“I’m sorry?”
“Don’t be, I kind of like it. But you can call me Gwen.”
“Thanks, Gwen,” and MEB fills her in on the situation thus far. She shows Gwen a photo of the formerly happy former couple. Gwen actually recognizes them from Thursday ngiht. “So, since this is where the Iocaine powder was introduced into her system, I was thinking maybe someone here poisoned her.”
“Who would want to, besides I’ve only got a few employees. There’s Ness - don’t annoy her, by the way.”
“Too late for that I’m afraid,” MEB confesses.
“And Aron, I think that’s his name this week, I get so confused,” and indeed, Gwen did look perplexed.
“Hmmmm, tell me about him. Does he handle food at all?”
“Never. He takes tickets, and rates movies. See,” Gwen points to a ranking system on the wall. “Charlies’Angels, two points for story, 10 points for babe value.”
“So, did he know the victim, I wonder?”
“You know, I believe he must have. They had words when he took her ticket. But he has no access to the food.”
“Still, I’d better question him.”
“He’s not in again until tomorrow afternoon. If you’d like, we can all meet here in my office tomorrow at 3:00.”
“That would be very helpful. I’ll leave you to you film watching now and see you tomorrow.”
“Thanks, I still have to watch five more movies before tomorrow noon! I’ve got Escape from New York, Escape from LA, LA Story, The Neverending Story... ” her voice trails office as MEB exits the office.
