Scene 15 - Also Monday afternoon
MEB meets up with Gwen and Aron in Gwen’s office.
“Aron, what can you tell us about Thursday evening?” MEB asks.
“Well, in theatre 12, Planet of the Apes was showing, which, as you know, is Tim Burton’s version of ‘Braveheart’ with apes; I gave it a 7. In theatre 8, we had Tomb Raider, which, in spite of some mildly interesting prologues, and major babe appeal, was ruined by its squalid script, giving this film a 4. And then in theatre 3,” Aron begins to express his opinions about America’s Sweethearts.
“Uh, I was referring to Skilly and Slothrop,” MEB interrupts hastily. “I understand you and Skilly had words.”
“Oh! That. That was nothing.”
“Could you elaborate on ‘nothing’?”
“Well, I was amused that the two of them were going to see America’s Sweethearts, and I mentioned that. She took offense and called me some nasty names. You don’t think I’d kill her for that? Heck, if I killed everyone who insulted me, this would be a pretty depopulated place. Besides,” he added with distaste, “I never handle the concessions.”
“Okay, so tell me, who handled the concessions that night?”
Gwen breaks in, “Oh my, oh my!”
“What is it?” MEB asks.
“He hasn’t been back, has he, Aron?”
“Oh, him? I wouldn’t know. I avoided him. What was his name again?”
“I’ve got it right here.” Gwen hands his employment file to MEB.
“One thing I did notice about him,” Aron adds, “He smelled like sheep.”
“Sheep?” MEB is confused, but the employment file just might hold the answer.
