Scene 10 - Sunday afternoon
Public Defender Violet Beauregard, and her able assistant and part time PI Miss Enthropic Bitch, are sitting in a jail cell with Slothrop.
“So, that’s what the argument was about This will have to come out on the stand, you know,” Violet counsels her client. “And you never found a trace of - you know who?”
“No, but I just know that you know who has got to be nearby somewhere. You know who wouldn’t let our wedding just go on without, without trying something,” Slothrop responds. “And I think you know who might just be desperate enough, enough to kill her.”
“Can we cut the ‘you know who’ crap? This is getting annoying,”
“I think it’s best for now that we don’t, MEB. After all,” Violet looks around furtively, “we never know who’s listening,” she cautions her assistant. “What we need now from you, MEB, is some heavy thinking and some good legwork. If you know who is around, you’ve got to find that problem child.”
MEB thinks for a moment, nods and calls for the guard. The two ladies of justice leave Slothrop’s cell, only after promising to do their best to get him out of this jam.
