A 5 minute sketch cannot translate into a 90 minute movie. Well, a good one anyway.
Do they have a machine that magically expands the script for the SNL skit and make it balloon from 1 page to 20? Or does the "writer" bust out "Mr X's big book of cock jokes" and ad-lib in the empty spots?
