This movie ruled. Honestly, it took me a few days to come to grips with it--after making a movie about spiritual crisis in THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE, this is a movie that's IN spiritual crisis--and it appeared I was the only one in the theatre laughing. But on reflection, the Coens' seeming contempt for all their characters actually reflects what the movie's about. That's right: it's a better religious film than THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST. The Coens are still masters of rapid-fire comic dialogue.
