Find the original version of the movie and you'll see why folks are bashing it. The original is my all time favorite movie, includes Peter Sellers in his first performance, Herbert Lom and other greats like Alec Guinness as the professor, in their earliest career days. It is priceless. Another reason is that this is not up to the Coens' standards. The details are missing or silly. There were video cameras all over the casino and counting room, yet no one dismantled them or watched tehm for solving the crime. The sheriff slept most of the time, yet there's a gambling boat in his town every day? PuhLeez! Of course there would be crime, as they showed in the donut shop intro. The old African Amercian lady gives money every week to Bob JOnes U, where "White is Right" and they don't allo interaction among the races kitchen? Stupid premise! And the Walt Disney-like special effects with her dead husband's picture were simply ludicrous and irritating. They should have made it G rated without all the FU language. I saw it Sunday afternoon, and the theatre was full of elderly people, which was surprising. The audible gasps at theh first few profanities was sad. Coens, you're on probation with me. Your name will not entice me to freely spend my movie budget anymore.
