I have read every one of Peter Benchley's novels EXCEPT FOR "Jaws", which I found too boring and lethargically scripted.
He's kind of annoying, in that he will spend twenty pages describing some stupid character who's only purpose is to be eaten by some sea monster in the prolouge.
Other renditions of Peter Benchley's work to the big screen:
"The Island": absolutely horrible story about modern day pirates. The book was revolting, and the movie was worse. Avoid at all costs.
"The Deep": slow moving, but actually quite a good action/adventure, with some of the most amazing underwater action scenes in motion picture history.
