07/19/1999: My review of LAKE PLACID

LAKE PLACID is a comedy and a horror film that balances the two genres very well.There is also a lot of blood, which is refreshing after all these recent bloodless horror films.The cinematography is quite beautiful,and the underwater scenes are well-done.The characters,in the hands of David E. Kelly,are drawn pretty much believably.Everyone seems to be having a really good time with their roles. Bill Pullman is his usual amiable self, Oliver Platt plays his role to the hilt,and Betty White, with a case of vocal diarrhea,steals the show. Go see this movie! NOW!
