This movie runs out of steam as soon as the so-called monster is revealed in full-frontal digital overlay. What's so frightening about a thirty-foot crocodile? Monsters are supposed to be mutated protoplasm, or aliens with tentacles and stingers, not fugitives from the Ganges river.
Fortunately, the movie has some good laughs early on so as not to be a total waste of time. I actually found this movie to be funnier than South Park, which I saw the same day.
One benefit the movie had was to prompt me to rent another Oliver Platt film called "Funny Bones" which I had seen once before. This is a truly great film and comic masterpiece starring Lee Evans (he played opposite Nathan Lane in "Mouse Hunt"). Highly recommended.
