That's Sydney Pollack (THEY SHOOT HORSES, DON'T THEY?...JEREMIAH JOHNSON, THE WAY WE WERE...).
Regardless of your negative opinion of EYES WIDE SHUT, I feel that it's a proper final film for a great director who gave us PATHS OF GLORY, DR. STRANGELOVE, and 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY. EYES WIDE SHUT was an examination of sexuality and desire which ended with the reaffirmation of the sanctity of marriage. It was a very private film. It had its faults, but, on the whole, I felt it succeeded in its intent.
