...it's my third year anniversary in this here insane yet oddly endearing little internet subculture. Yup, I joined the Crankyland mob in the autumn of '99, so here's a little clip show:
"Three Years of Magic with Mad-Ness"
Early Fall, 1999 - _Entertainment Weekly_ runs an article about websites about cheesy movies. Among them is www.thestinkers.com. I explore that site while waiting, in the UMass Dartmouth library, for a class to start.
Exploration of their Links page brings me to Cranky's. Lurking around the main forums, I run into what I vaguely remember as that legendary fanfiction where Wulfgar and a few other characters are in an "Aliens" parody with rabid bunnies.
I am frightened off for several weeks.
Later that Fall - I somehow ended up at Cranky's again, and started as a basement dweller, missing the point of this site entirely. Something compels me to head to the main forums.
Winter, 1999 - Annoyed a lot of older posters.
Spring, 2000 - Annoyed a lot of older posters.
Summer, 2000 - After returning from an internet-deprived place for summer vacation, annoyed a lot of older posters.
Fall, 2000 - This is where things started to get interesting. I am deemed important enough to show up (and die rather early on in the game) in a few fanfics. The most high-profile of these is Jabberwocky's "Cranktrix", which inadvertently forces me to get in touch with my Animus*.
Winter 2000 - After the insane fiasco with the Conqueror clones (go look in the "Lost Souls" forum, if you dare), I am granted a major supporting role in a fanfiction ("Saga of the Crankydestined" trilogy). I celebrate by annoying a lot of older posters.
Spring, 2001 - I go on a lengthy Cranky haiatus (sp?). A handful (of considerable size) of hoopy froods recognize me on my return.
Summer, 2001 - The idea for "the Insane Crossover Fanfic" begins to germinate in my head. I return from this summer vacation to find that some important older posters are rapidly replaced by several new posters.
Fall, 2001 - And that brings us to the present. I think I will celebrate by annoying the hell out of some older, AND newer posters. And I will demand that everybody go read my Magnum Opus:

* Alright, if I recall correctly, it's the technical Jungian term for a woman's masculine side. For the record, Jung calls a man's feminine side his Anima. I might be wrong, I haven't looked over my Psyche class notes in a while, so don't quote me on this.
