Beast,
We really didn't have a set name but we only played out once at an outdoor concert in Clearwater FL ( me, Brian and Eric's hometown ). There were so many good bands and we sucked sooooo bad. Well, this was in 1984 - I was 14, Brian was 12 and Eric was I think 16. In fact I don't think Brian even played with us that day. We went by the name of "P.A.N.I.C." an acronym for "Parents Are Not In Control" - OHHHHHH yeah it was cheesy, but we had a good time.
A little note about Eric - when we started the band, he was really into Led Zep, Jimi Hendrix and the Doors. I was listening to a tape in my garage, one side contained all of "Kill 'em all" (Metallica) and the other had various songs from the *New Wave of Metal Bands* such as "Metal Thrashing Mad" (Anthrax), "Black Funeral" (Mercyful Fate) and "Die by the Sword" (Slayer). Needless to say, he asked to borrow the tape, I let him, and at our next practice he DEMANDED that we start playing music like this. The band didn't last too long (we were all too young and stupid) and the rest is history. The funniest thing about it all is that after typing all this right now I can remember it like it was yesterday. He acknowledged me in the April 1990 issue of "Players" magazine (a local Tampa monthly mag) after he saw my name as a finalist for a guitar competition in Tampa. The magazine was interviewing Tampa Bay musicians and to my knowledge he had said that if it wasn't for me, he wouldn't have ever started that band (Deicide). I never actually got to read the article but some worth-while sources confirmed it. So even though I never made it in the music world at least I made my contribution.
If you like Deicide and you're a fan --- you're welcome... If you absolutely despise them and their music revolts you --- well, I'm sorry...

P.S. After all that, I never actually heard a Deicide song until long after I was out of the Tampa Bay music scene - Pretty weird how things turn out.
