You have to be somewhat insane to believe that the 'Disco Sucks' campaign was thinly disguised bigotry. I heard that lame argument on a show about disco recently and I haven't stopped laughing. While it may be true that some folks didn't like gays, blacks, and other minorities, espousing this crude theory suggests a true lack of understanding of musical history. Basically there were those who chose to 'disco' their butts off and those, such as myself, that really didn't care about dressing up like a Travolta-wanna- be and shaking their asses to that insipid music known as Disco. Don't get me wrong, if you were getting high and getting laid to the tunes of the Village People, more power to you. But I wasn't and I found rock music to be better suited to my tastes, as did a whole lot of folks back then. The disco music, clothes, and attitude SUCKED. Big time! But since that horrible noise known as rap has come out, I find myself actually longing for those days in the late 70's! RAP SUCKS. Even bigger time!!
