I'm confused. Everyone who's complaining about originality here keeps citing A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS (or mistakenly invoking THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY). Only Mr. Cranky seems to remember that Eastwood and Sergio Leone ripped off Akira Kurosawa's YOJIMBO, one of the most amazing films ever made. At least Walter Hill acknowledged his debt to the master.
Sigh. Just go rent the damn movie (YOJIMBO, that is) -- and make sure you get the letterbox version.
