Linklater is in a great position after "School of Rock" became such a mainstream success. He followed that up with the sequel to "Before Sunrise," which will almost certainly make $$ as it cost almost nothing to make. He's currently doing the HBO series $5.15/hour, about minimum wage workers at a restaurant. Let's hope that this is another acclaimed HBO series & not another "K Street." I know that he wanted to do these last 2 projects for a while, but people didn't want to give him the $$, until "School of Rock" hit. If these 2 projects do well, I bet he'll be in a good position to do "Scanner" if he wants. I also heard that he's doing a sequel to "Dazed & Confused." I'm sure that will do well & push the project forward even more. I think that if Linklater is given the job, he'll given Kauffman's script a long look.
