Beatings, perhaps, but not mutilation.
The thing about the Lorena Bobbit case that was scary was how many women were amused by it. Not a sickly funny Jerry Springer way, but in a "I'm laughing because I approve" way.
But casually mention clitoredectomy and they get all huffy.
