I understand that when he re-entered the army, he did so as a common Private.
He also wrote a book called "Seven Pillars of Wisdom," which I understand is a good read.
And the real T.E. Lawrence was no pretty boy Peter O'Toole. Accounts I've read describe him as short and ugly, vastly intelligent, but with a completely Machiavellian world-view- that ANY means were justified to reach a goal. His work certainly helped destabilize Turkish rule in the Mideast, and thus contributed to the destruction of the Ottoman Empire, the demise of which was no loss.
