Yes, it was nominated. It also won plenty of awards, including Best Actor and Best Actress.

Tommy Lee Jones also won BA for "The Fugitive" - he should have won for JFK, if he should have won it at all.
Al Pacino won for "Scent of a Woman" - he shouldn't have won for that one, maybe "Dog Day Afternoon" (sorry, didn't check if he did or didn't on that one)
Just because a movie wins an Academy Award - or is nominated for one - doesn't make it a good movie, it just means that some movies had better PR than others.
