The Breeders ... they've back performing
Kim and Kelley Deal are back Breeding. The Breeders performed their first gig in 5 years Saturday night at the Congress Theater in Chicago.
While the band did perform last year in Los Angeles, that was a free, secret gig where basically they were testing the waters to see if they still had a future.
The setlist included old favs such as "Cannonball" but three new songs made their debut Saturday night at the gig.
Producer Steve Albini has been in the studio in Chicago with the sisters Deal recording a new album, their first since 1993's Last Splash. Albini also produced their 1990 debut Pod.
The new album tentatively titled 'Title TK' has been two years in the making, with Kim and Albini started the process with some solo recordings in 1999. Kim's twin sister Kelley, fresh out of rehab, reunited with her sister and added guitar to the solo work. The album will be released on 4AD in a few months.
